The Gloria Faye Dingus Music Alliance proudly presents Rhys Jones & Luke Richardson, two of the finest touring performers of American music today to the Listening Room at Drum & Strum. It will be an evening of traditional Appalachian music and song, with stunning virtuosity on fiddle, banjo, and guitar, and the stories behind the music. Jones, multiple award-winning fiddle champion has been playing Appalachian music for his entire life and is known for his driving, authoritative and clear fiddle style, deeply traditional approach, and diverse repertoire. Rhys has brought old-time Appalachian music to such illustrious venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, and the Scottish Royal Concert Hall. His album Starry Crown is widely considered one of the finest examples of twin fiddling in the modern era. Luke Richardson, multiple award-winning banjo champion has an intuitive ability to match the fiddle, both on banjo and harmonica, Luke pushes the music along with grace, ease, and drive. A practitioner of multiple styles of old-time banjo, Luke explores the potential of the banjo in a strikingly creative yet regionally-informed way.
