Luann Carlson

- Violin, Viola and Cello

Luann’s interest in violin was sparked by her older sister starting the strings program in school. She began asking to learn to play when she was a toddler. After a year of persistence, her mom realized it was not a phase and she began violin lessons at 3.5 years old. When Luann entered the strings program in middle school she learned viola. In college, she took cello lessons. She played both violin and cello in orchestras on campus.

Luann has taught violin, viola, and cello for the past 8 years. Her students have had successful auditions with youth orchestras and advanced ensembles in their schools. She has had students perform in all county orchestras in both Loudoun and Prince William counties. A long-term student received a partial music scholarship to study music in college.

Luann loves sharing her love of music and strings with her students and helping them achieve their goals. She currently plays first violin in the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra.  She has studied with Peter de Vries of Queens University of Charlotte, Dr. Jeanette Ensley, and Dr. Jane MacMorran.
