Kathy Firestone
Kathy recently retired from teaching Band and Orchestra in Prince William County Public Schools. Previously, she taught Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra classes at various grade levels ranging from elementary through high school in both private and public schools in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She is a graduate of West Virginia University and received her
Master’s degree from Towson State University. She has performed with Swing bands and a number of Community bands in the Northern Virginia area. She was chosen to judge Solo and Ensemble Festival, All-District Band and All-County Band
and Orchestra Festivals in Prince William County. She performed as principal flutist and fifer on the recording for Civil Air Patrol Band. Also recorded fife music for the “Gettysburg” computer game and was the principal fifer for the re-enactment of George Washington’s funeral which was televised at Mt. Vernon. Principal flutist for the Annapolis Opera Community Orchestra and the MD Wind Symphony.
Recently, she plays flute in the Fauquier Community Band and Vienna Community Band. For over 20 yrs. she has played flute and bass in the Nitehawks Swing Band.
