Santa Cruz Vintage Jumbo
Santa Cruz Guitar Company – Vintage Jumbo slope shouldered dreadnought handmade in Santa Cruz, California, USA. Ebony fingerboard & bridge, Sitka Spruce Top, Mahogany Back and Sides, 1 11/16″ bone nut & compensated saddle, 25.375″ scale length, nickel vintage tuners with Ivoroid buttons, double tapered bracing, Nitrocellulose Lacquer Sunburst finish, and Ameritage arch-top hardshell case. The VJ’s Sitka Spruce top is braced and voiced for volume and the body is built with premium Mahogany for clarity of tone. The balance favors the bass to the degree found in the originals, not to the excess found in many from the golden era of the square-shouldered brand. What this really pretty face has over its predecessors is SCGC’s hallmark complexity of overtones, sustain and power.
The Vintage Jumbo is the ideal Blues guitar. Inspired by the classic round-shouldered dreadnoughts of the 1940’s, it has been infused with the characteristic Santa Cruz volume, balance and complexity to create a guitar that can cover a lot of different styles. The VJ is dripping with the kind of deep, rich bass and sweet trebles that really shine in chord-oriented work. The Jumbo is instantly a favorite of anyone who picks it up. It’s a new guitar with an old soul, and like every Santa Cruz guitar it is a work of art. The mahogany and spruce combination is perfectly balanced with volume to spare.
