Rachel Sexton

- Cello

Rachel received a MM Cello Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory. She
also received an additional year of training under Soloist Julian Schwarz in solo,
chamber, and orchestral studies. Rachel was Principal Cellist of the Tyson’s
McLean Orchestra, Section cellist in Roanoke Symphony, additionally plays
frequently with Alexandria Symphony, Fairfax Symphony, and Annapolis
Symphony. In May, 2018 performed the local premiere of film composer Sharon
Farber’s cello concerto, ‘Bestemming’ was featured as soloist with Tyson’s
McLean Orchestra in Spring 2019, and has performed chamber and solo
concerts with members of the University of Maryland faculty in Fairfax, VA.
Rachel was teaching assistant for Julian Schwarz at Shenandoah Conservatory,
and taught undergraduate cello students. Rachels vast experience,
professionalism and dedication to her craft make her a natural fit for the Drum & Strum team of instructors.
